The present Central Tax Audit Commissionerate, Ahmedabad came into existence with introduction of GST regime w.e.f. 01.07.2017 after merger of erstwhile Audit-I and Audit–II Commissionerates of Central Excise & Service Tax, Ahmedabad.
Prior to 01.07.2017, the jurisdiction of erstwhile Audit-I Commissionerate covered the area of two Commissionerates viz. Central Excise Ahmedabad-I & Ahmedabad-III while the area of Central Excise Ahmedabad-II and Service tax Commissionerate wascovered under the jurisdiction of Audit-II Commissionerate.
As per GST Trade Notice No. 05/2017 dtd. 30.06.2017, the newly created Central Tax Audit Commissionerate Ahmedabad, covers the jurisdiction falling under the three newly designated Commissionerates viz. Ahmedabad North, Ahmedabad South and Gandhinagar Commissionerates of Central GST.
The Audit Commissionerate Ahmedabad comprises of 10 Circles with total 70 Audit Groups. Circles I to IV are entrusted with the audit of area under Ahmedabad South Commissionerate. The audit of jurisdiction of Ahmedabad North is covered by Circles-V to VII while the audit of jurisdiction of Gandhinagar Commissionerates entrusted with Circles-VIII to X.
